The Tischendorf Greek New Testament (8th Critical Edition, 1869–72) is the scholarly critical edition prepared by Constantin von Tischendorf, the scholar who discovered the Codex Sinaiticus in 1844. Based on the most ancient Greek manuscripts available. The Old Testament portion is the Septuagint (LXX), the Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures used by the early Church and quoted extensively in the New Testament.
